Avian Influenza - Is it Still a Threat?

As the news focuses on tariffs, war, and more... another threat is quietly building: Avian Influenza
While headlines scream about global tensions and economic disruption, the steady drumbeat of another pandemic grows louder—this time, it's bird flu.
Recent headlines say it all:
- Bird flu in cats points to risk of another pandemic (1)
- Bird flu is continuing to spread in animals across the US (2)
- Inside the Race to Track and Stop the Spread of Avian Flu (3)
- Minnesota Legislature debates response to bird flu epidemic (4)
- Zoom call sounding the alarm to a potential pandemic (5)
And just like last time...
A gene therapy “vaccine” is already in the works—this one is for cattle and could potentially enter the milk supply:
Gain-of-Function Research: Temporarily Paused
GOF research—experiments that make viruses more dangerous—has been temporarily paused in the U.S. for four months, but not banned. This includes both private and federally funded research.
The White House confirms SARS-CoV-2 originated from GOF research in Wuhan (7). President Trump’s May 5, 2025 executive order aims to:
- End U.S. funding of GOF research in foreign countries lacking sufficient oversight
- Restrict life sciences research abroad that threatens U.S. public health or security (8)
What About Avian Influenza?
- USDA’s Southeast Poultry Research Lab and the University of Wisconsin have paused avian flu GOF work (9,10)
- South Korea continues avian flu GOF research without U.S. oversight (11)
CDC Monitoring Human Transmission
The CDC now includes a section on potential person-to-person bird flu transmission (12).
Calls for Action
Nicolas Hulscher, MPH, of the McCullough Foundation calls for a permanent end to GOF:
“The new executive order is a critical step — but without a permanent, enforceable ban on domestic and private gain-of-function research, the next pandemic could still be manmade.” (13)
Pandemic 2.0?
The avian flu threat is real—and it’s not going away. Those in power are already preparing for the next global health crisis. Stay alert. Stay informed.
