Something Was Off For Months. Every Test Came Back "Normal."

How one overlooked possibility changed the way I think about my gut health.
The answer was in a question my doctor and I hadn't asked yet.

Something Was Off For Months. Something Was Off For Months.

The Story Begins

It started so small I almost ignored it.

Low energy that coffee couldn't fix. A stomach that felt "off" more days than not. Bloating after meals I'd eaten my whole life. That foggy, one-step-behind feeling that made simple days feel hard.

I told myself it was stress. Then I told myself it was age. Then I told myself it was my diet.

But it kept going. And the questions started stacking up:

  • Why do I feel this run-down when nothing's really "wrong"?
  • Why does my gut react to foods that never bothered me before?
  • Why does every visit end with "everything looks normal" — when I clearly don't feel normal?

Here's the part nobody tells you: when something's quietly off, the hardest thing isn't the symptom. It's not knowing what you're actually dealing with.

The Dead-End Nobody Warns You About

If you've ever chased a "mystery" like this, you know the routine:

  • Wait and see — hope it fades on its own, while the weeks pile up.
  • Change your diet again — cut out one more food group and cross your fingers.
  • Another appointment — more bloodwork, another "looks fine," another shrug.
  • The internet spiral — a hundred possible explanations and zero real answers.

And the whole time, the same overlooked possibility sits there — the one a lot of us are never taught to even consider.

That's when I stopped asking "what's wrong with me?" and started asking a better question: "what haven't we ruled out?"

The Turning Point

While reading up one night, I found something that genuinely surprised me — straight from the CDC.

Parasitic infections aren't just a "travel" thing, or a "somewhere else" thing. They're more common in the United States than most people realize — and the CDC itself has said so. CDC Director Dr. Tom Frieden put it plainly: these infections are "more common in the United States than people realize, and yet there is so much we don't know about them."

That reframed everything for me. Not because I decided I had one — I didn't know, and neither did my doctor yet — but because it was a real, documented possibility I'd never once been asked about.

So I brought it to my provider. Instead of guessing, we finally had a specific question worth asking.

THE WELLNESS COMPANY PARASITE CLEANSE

“The Protocol Behind The Paper.”

Nattokinase, bromelain, and curcumin — the same compounds at the center of Dr. McCullough's Base Spike Detoxification review, in the doses described in the published protocol.

What The CDC Actually Says (The Part That Stuck With Me)

Here's what surprised me most — every number below is the CDC's own, not a marketing claim:

  • Over 40 million people in the United States carry the Toxoplasma parasite, according to the CDC — and most never have symptoms and don't know they carry it.
  • The CDC formally flagged a group of "Neglected Parasitic Infections" — five parasites (Chagas disease, cysticercosis, toxocariasis, toxoplasmosis and trichomoniasis) singled out as public-health priorities specifically because they're under-recognized and under-diagnosed here at home.
  • One of them, trichomoniasis, affects about 3.7 million Americans — and the CDC notes most infected people never get tested or treated.
  • The CDC has also been candid about the knowledge gap itself: providers may not recognize, diagnose, or treat these infections appropriately, and we have a limited understanding of how many people are affected.

None of this means anyone reading this has a parasite. It just means it's a real, documented, and often-overlooked possibility — and one worth being aware of, and talking to your own doctor about.

That awareness is what led me to be more intentional about my gut. Not as a cure. As upkeep.

What It Is (And What It Isn't)

This isn't a diagnosis. It isn't a treatment. It's a wellness cleanse.

Nattokinase 4,000 FU (about 200 mg), daily. Enzyme studied for its ability to break down fibrin and clots.
Bromelain 500 mg, once a day. A set of enzymes studied for calming inflammation and supporting clot breakdown.
Curcumin 500mg, daily. The active compound in turmeric, long studied for its effect on inflammation.
Duration 3 to 12 months, sometimes longer — tuned to the individual and recommended to consult with a provider.

Breaking spike protein down

Nattokinase and bromelain are studied for breaking spike protein down into inactive pieces.

Quieting the inflammation

By acting on the NF-κB signaling pathway associated with spike protein.

Dissolving microthrombi

Helping the body clear the tiny clots linked to lingering spike protein.

A mild blood-thinning effect

From the enzymes at work together — part of why the protocol is followed under medical guidance.

Why This Is A Smart Move, Not A Fear Move

I don't share my story to scare anyone. Just the opposite.

The mindset is simple: you take a daily vitamin, you drink your water, you try to sleep. Supporting your gut is the same kind of ordinary, sensible upkeep, not an emergency.

What changed for me wasn't a diagnosis. It was finally feeling informed instead of in the dark:

Dismissing a peer-reviewed rationale without reading it

Assuming “no trial yet” means “nothing to it”

Living with symptoms and no mechanism-based option in mind

Assuming any mainstream explanation must already be settled
